61% (about 980) of Giant Pandas today are kept in reserves. And today, China currently has 27 Giant Panda protection zones and also in 32 other countries. The Ministry of Forestry has also donated 70 million yuan (US$ 8.43million) to protect Giant Pandas. Giant Pandas have been around for 8 million years, and China regards them as "natural treasures." Giant Pandas today cannot only be found in China, but also in Myanmar and Vietnam, however, they are on a verge of extinction because of climactic changes and human activity.China is also keeping record on each Giant panda. The files contain information on health, illnesses and blood ties to other captive pandas.
